We are looking for someone with a good understanding of vector-borne diseases, who is an enthusiastic, motivated team player with a flexible approach to work. The post holder must have highly developed communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision to deliver agreed project goals within specified deadlines. The post holder will demonstrate excellent attention to detail and have experience of ecological field-based research. Work produced by the team is published in peer-reviewed publications, and so experience of writing or contributing to scientific papers is required. An interest or background in arthropods, invertebrate identification, landscape ecology, or infectious diseases will benefit. Experience of data analysis will also be of benefit.
The post holder will spend a large proportion of their time reviewing literature and writing reports, supporting the delivery of vector (tick and mosquito) surveillance schemes/networks and collecting and identifying field-collected vector specimens (both within and potentially outside the UK). Additionally, the post holder will contribute to peer-reviewed publications and will present project-based work at meetings or conferences when necessary.
